1. Product Introduction

What is ZS-SCM Activator?

ZS-SCM Activator is a high-performance chemical additive designed to enhance the reactivity of supplementary cementitious materials, including fly ash, slag, and mineral powders. It is primarily used in the grinding and preparation of concrete admixtures and can also be applied directly in concrete production. By accelerating the activation of mineral admixtures and improving their pozzolanic activity, it enables significant cement reduction in concrete while maintaining or improving strength, thereby reducing overall concrete production costs.

How Does It Work?

Chemical Activation: The activator combines alkali, sulfate, and organic amine components to break the Si-O and Al-O bonds in the glassy phase of fly ash and slag. This releases reactive silica and alumina, which then undergo secondary hydration with Ca(OH)₂ generated from cement hydration, forming additional C-S-H gel and ettringite. This process significantly enhances both early and late-age strength.

Physical Dispersion & Grinding Assistance: The organic components disperse agglomerated SCM particles, making them easier to grind finer and increasing their specific surface area. This further improves reactivity, resulting in a dual-function product that combines activation with grinding efficiency.

Q: How is the optimal dosage determined?

Q: Does this activator cause preheater blockage or corrosion issues?

A: No. ZS-SCM Activator strictly controls Cl⁻ (≤0.1%) and alkali (≤1.0%) content. A quality inspection report is provided with each shipment. It is low in alkali and chloride and will not cause preheater scaling, corrosion, or blockage.

Q: How should ZS-SCM Activator be stored?

A: Store in a sealed plastic or stainless steel container at temperatures between -5℃ and 40℃. Shelf life: 12 months.

Q: Does using this activator require new equipment?

A: No. ZS-SCM Activator can use the same storage tanks and metering pumps as existing cement grinding aids. No additional equipment is needed. It is fully compatible with conventional grinding aids with no antagonistic effects.

Q: Is there lab data proving the effectiveness of this activator?

A: Yes. In C30 concrete tests, adding 0.08% activator enabled a 9.5% reduction in cement content while simultaneously increasing 28-day strength by 14% (from 38.2 MPa to 43.6 MPa). Workability was also improved, with higher initial flow and better slump retention.

7. Usage Guidelines

Calibration: When no lift height is required, a metering pump can be used directly. When lifting is required, a two-stage pumping method is recommended. The addition point should be on the mill feed belt or at the mill inlet.

Application Point: Connect to the existing grinding aid feeding tank and metering pump. No separate equipment is needed. Set the pump flow rate based on the target tonnage of finished SCM, starting from the lower end of the recommended dosage range and adjusting upward as needed.

Monitoring: Track mill amperage, hourly output (t/h), SCM quality (specific surface area, sieve residue), and concrete performance (compressive strength, workability) before and after introduction to quantify improvement.
