ZS-HPRA Slump-Retaining Water Reducer
ZS-HPRA Slump-Retaining Water Reducer is a polycarboxylate-based concrete admixture with superior slump retention for 3-4 hours. At a low dosage of 2-12kg per ton of cementitious material, it increases 28-day compressive strength by 22%-35%, reduces cementitious material usage by 8%-18%, and improves durability (impermeability up 30%-45%). Real summer trial data from a commercial batching plant shows 2-hour slump/spread maintained at 220/530mm vs. 150/350mm for conventional products. Backed by 43+ patents and 20 years of R&D from Zhongsen Holding Group.

ZS-HPRA Slump-Retaining Water Reducer
1. Product Introduction
What is ZS-HPRA Slump-Retaining Water Reducer?
ZS-HPRA Slump-Retaining Water Reducer is a carboxylate graft copolymer concrete admixture developed by Shengchuan Company, featuring superior slump retention capabilities. The product is highly adaptable to various concrete mixes and requires low dosage. It is particularly suitable for concrete projects requiring long-term fluidity retention, high-temperature slump retention, medium-to-low slump retention, and precast pumped concrete.
How Does It Work?
The slump-retaining polycarboxylate molecules contain slowly hydrolyzable ester-based slow-release side chains:
Rapid Adsorption & Dispersion: Carboxyl groups rapidly adsorb onto cement particle surfaces, combining electrostatic repulsion and steric hindrance to disperse flocculated cementitious materials, achieving initial water reduction and flowability.
Sustained Release Mechanism: Under the alkaline conditions of concrete slurry, the ester groups in the side chains gradually hydrolyze, continuously releasing active carboxyl groups to replenish the effective components consumed by cement hydration.
Long-Lasting Slump Retention: This sustained release mechanism provides continuous dispersion capacity, effectively controlling slump loss over extended periods.

5. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is the optimal dosage determined?
A: The recommended dosage is 2kg – 12kg per ton of cementitious material. The optimal dosage can be fine-tuned based on cement compatibility, temperature, and concrete slump requirements. Our technical team can assist with industrial trials to determine your optimal economic dosage.
Q: Is this product chloride-free? Will it corrode steel reinforcement?
A: Yes, it is chlorine-free and low in alkali. It complies with national standards, does not corrode steel reinforcement or concrete, and does not cause efflorescence.
Q: Can ZS-HPRA be used together with concrete synergist?
A: Yes, the two can be added separately. The water reducer reduces water and increases strength, while the synergist activates admixtures to further save cement. The combined cost reduction effect is optimal.
Q: How should ZS-HPRA be packaged and stored?
A: It can be transported by tanker truck or in 1000kg plastic drums. Custom packaging is available upon request. Shelf life is 1 year. If sedimentation occurs within the shelf life, stirring before use will not affect performance.
Q: Is there real case data proving the slump retention performance?
A: Yes. In a commercial batching plant summer trial, ZS-HPRA maintained slump/spread at 220/530mm after 2 hours with almost zero loss, while a conventional product dropped from 210/530mm to 150/350mm. At equal dosage, ZS-HPRA delivered significantly superior slump retention.

Specialized Infrastructure Projects |
High admixture content, low heat of hydration, prevents through-cracks, enhances impermeability and erosion resistance |
7. Usage Guidelines
Calibration: Install a dedicated metering pump. Add ZS-HPRA at 0.2%–1.2% of total cementitious material mass (2kg – 12kg per ton). Direct metering can be used when no lift is required; a two-stage pumping method is used when the feeding height needs to be increased.
Application Point: Add to the mixer simultaneously with mixing water. Do not mix directly with dry materials.
Note: We provide customers with methods for testing and controlling concrete compatibility.
